Peak oil

"Predicting the oil peak" (Business Line, June 20) was interesting and made a well-argued case for seriously addressing the energy problem the world is heading towards. The intention of the article has to be understood well by policy-makers worldwide, and action must be taken to avert the danger scenario of the world running out of fossil fuels without alternatives in place.

Politicking must be put aside and collaborative research into alternative technologies taken up on an urgent basis.
