Our Bureau

Chennai , June 22

Hutch has launched scratch cards that offer caller tunes and ring tones. Mr Kumar Ramanathan, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Essar (Chennai and Tamil Nafu), explained to the press that the concept is similar to that of a prepaid card.

After purchasing one of the scratch cards - called `Fun Cards' - the idea is to scratch the panel on the back of the card, and SMS the 16 digit code found there to 123, and the content is downloaded on to the device, he said.

The fun cards are offered in three categories and are priced accordingly. A card with a set of three ring tones can be purchased for Rs 20, a card with caller tunes subscription as well as one caller tune is priced at Rs 45 and a card with a set of four caller tunes is priced at Rs 40 per card.

Each SMS to 123 would be charged Rs 2 additionally. If the customer purchases a fun card with caller tunes, his or her account would be charged the normal rate for caller tunes after one month.
