SSI States - Andhra Pradesh CII plans more cluster models in South Our Bureau
Hyderabad , June 22 Encouraged by the success of the cluster development model in Ambattur, the CII (Southern Region) is now planning to replicate it in other parts of the region to make small and medium enterprises competitive and efficient. The CII, which launched six clusters thereafter, has decided to develop five more clusters, including one each in Bangalore and Hosur. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr M. Lakshminarayan, Chairman of CII (South), said the chamber would provide advisory services to over 100 member companies in the region through the CII centres of excellence in the areas of quality, green business, energy management, total cost management and logistics and supply chain management. He said the chamber would design its programmes for the year based on the theme `Competitiveness through innovative, inclusive and sustainable growth'. Talking on CII's corporate social responsibility activity, he said it had taken up awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS, targeting top management and staff of corporates in the region. In Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, the CII targeted to take the campaign to at least 225 companies. Earlier in the day, a CII delegation met Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, to discuss a variety of issues related to industry and the upcoming projects of CII. The CII (South) Chairman said the chamber would come out with comprehensive reports on `Transforming Bangalore into an aerospace hub', `Economic development of North Karnataka', `Economic Agenda for Pondicherry' and `Study on agriculture and food processing in Kerala'. The CII was contemplating to set up a training institute to provide quality human resources to the textile sector.
