Spot rubber remains flat

Aravindan

Kottayam , June 22

Spot rubber ruled flat consecutively for the fourth day on Thursday. Hectic gains in international markets failed to warm up domestic prices indicating the absence over speculation.

Major manufacturers showed no interest to procure the raw materiel though there were no quantity sellers in the main marketing centres. RSS 4 closed unchanged at Rs 105 and Rs 105.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi in a rather dull trading session.

Futures firm

The rubber futures stood firm on NMCE. The July contract was quoted at Rs 107.90 (Rs 107.02), August contract at Rs 109 (Rs 108.09), September at Rs 105.50 (Rs 104.67) and October contract at Rs 102.98 (Rs 102.33) per kg for RSS 4.

The market appeared to be loosing its charm as it detached from the global pull, sources said.

Physical prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 105 (Rs 105); RSS-5: Rs 102.00 (Rs 102); ungraded: Rs 97 (Rs 97); ISNR 20: Rs 100 (Rs 100) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 78.95 (Rs 78.95).
