Our Bureau

New Delhi , June 22

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) plans to come up with an accounting standard on financial instruments including derivatives in January 2007.

Mr T.N. Manoharan, ICAI President, said: "We have already come up with an exposure draft on the disclosure part of the accounting standard. In August this year, we will expose the recognition and measurement part for public comments. We hope to release the final standard on financial instruments in January 2007." He added that a Reserve Bank of India study group was also giving inputs to the ICAI for the proposed standard.
