Gross bank credit rises by Rs 17,452 cr

Mumbai , June 23

Gross bank credit increased by Rs 17,452 crore to touch Rs 15,10,567 crore for the fortnight ended June 9, according to the Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

This is inclusive of food credit, which increased by Rs 1,484 crore to touch Rs 40,546 crore and non-food credit, which grew by Rs 15,968 crore to touch Rs 14,70,021 crore.

Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investment in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper was at Rs 15,50,384 crore.
