Performance SAIL raw materials unit registers 10 pc growth Our Bureau
Kolkata , June 24 In the first two months of 2006-07, the raw materials division of Steel Authority of India Ltd produced 2.78 million tonnes, marking a growth of 10 per cent over the corresponding period of 2005-06. "Iron ore dispatches touched an all time high of 2.63 million tonnes, registering a growth of five per cent over the previous year. Total stock level at the steel plants touched 0.56 million tonnes and a comfortable buffer of 1.87 million tonnes has been maintained at mines head," a press release stated. The division, which caters to the SAIL's plants at Durgapur, Rourkela, IISCO and Bokaro, has two more in its fold Gua and Manoharpur apart from Kiriburu, Meghatuburu, Bolani, Barsua and Kalta.
Corporate Plan
As per SAIL's Corporate Plan 2012, work has been started to enhance production at the mines further. "Additionally, as part of corporate social responsibility, the raw materials division has taken up several projects to improve quality of life of the people living in the peripheral area of these mines," the release stated.
