SSIs unhappy with budget

Our Bureau

Kochi, June 25

Kerala State Small Industries Association said that the State budget had neglected the small-scale industries sector and the Government had not considered any of the proposals put forth by the Association. The Association President, Mr Xavier Thomas Kondody, said that the tax on some SSI products has been unduly increased instead of reducing it. The hike in tax on paints to 20 per cent will hit the small-scale units, he said. The proposal to hike the tax on soft wood from the present 4 per cent will affect the industry very badly. He appealed for the withdrawal of the hike effected on small-scale industry.
