Cleartrip Travel to launch portal

With an aim to ease out travel hassles

Mumbai , June 29

With promises to iron out travel hassles, Cleartrip Travel Services Pvt Ltd has launched a online travel portal, promoted by the US-based venture capital firms Sherpalo Ventures and Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers.

Talking about the portal at a press conference, Mr Sandeep Murthy, CEO, Cleartrip, said, "The portal will be a one-stop shop for travellers offering all aspects of travel and tourism at one place."

The Web Site will allow customers to select from over 900 domestic hotels and several network carriers and low cost airlines. The portal will also have an expansive database on some 500 domestic destinations. Furthermore, it has partnered with e-travel major Lonely Planet to allow Cleartrip visitors access to similar information on all their content.

"The Indian e-travel market is expanding at a whopping growth rate of 125 per cent. The market is expected to be worth Rs 325 million in three year.We are trying to reach around 21 million active Internet users through this portal,'' said Mr Murthy.

"We will be rolling out domestic and niche holiday packages soon. The portal is expected to have 20,000 hits and around 1,000 effected transactions everyday,'' said Mr Mathew Spacie, Director - Marketing, Cleartrip.

Mr Stuart Crighton, Director - Business development and Mr Hrush Bhatt, director - Ecommerce also attended the press conference. The portal, www.cleartrip.com, will be operational from July 4.
