Big ticket client of NIIT is Philips

NIIT Ltd has said it received a multi-million dollar from electronics major Philips in the last one quarter.

"We have been looking after the training administration of Philips worldwide since the last one quarter, and are under a multi-year contract with them beginning with two years," Mr Vijay K Thadani, CEO of NIIT, said while announcing the annual and fourth quarter results here.

NIIT had announced the contract in the last quarter but revealed the name of the company only now.

NIIT also unveiled its plans of tapping opportunities in the service sector, including banking, insurance, finance and management but did not give details.

During the year, its individual learning business grew significantly, posting a 22 per cent year on year growth. Career student enrolments went up 21 per cent while the job placements went up by 124 per cent over the previous financial year. The China business grew by over 26 per cent, contributing 10 per cent to the company's system-wide revenues.
