Tea Kochi tea steady Our Bureau
Kochi July 2 , There was a steady trend at the Kochi tea auction that had 9,57,000 kg of dust tea on offer. The market opened steady to firm and retained that sentiment as the auction progressed. High grown orthodox dust varieties remained steady while medium orthodox remained steady to easier. Best CTC dust varieties fetched between Rs 57 and Rs 64, medium CTC ranged between Rs 48 and Rs 55 and below medium was quoted Rs 44 -49. High grown BOPD varieties realised Rs 85-105, medium BOPD was not quoted and secondaries ranged at Rs 33-37.
Leaf Tea
There was 3,45,000 kg of leaf tea on offer at the auction, which witnessed fair general demand. Medium orthodox leaf teas remained steady as buyers chased quality, price of secondaries tended to ease, while fannings remained steady. High grown orthodox varieties also remained steady. The price of cleaner and black varieties of CTC smaller brokens and fannings firmed up by Rs 2-3. Exporters to Libya and Iraq operated on medium orthodox grades, while exporters to CIS countries evinced interest in primaries. Good medium CTC dust and CTC smaller grades also witnessed good demand from exporters. Best Nilgiri leaf varieties fetched between Rs 60 and 67, medium orthodox Rs 47-55, while plain orthodox fetched Rs 43-45. Best CTC leaf realised Rs 55-58 and medium CTC leaf Rs 50-54.
Top prices
Among the dust varieties, Kodanad BOPD fetched Rs 105, Pasuparai SFD Rs 91, Pasuparai FD Rs 90 and Paskside BOPD Rs 85. In the leaf auction, Havukal BOPF realised Rs 91, Kodanad BOPF Rs 91, Havukal OP Rs 85 and Havukal FOP Rs 83.
