Logistics - Airlines
Ticket turbulence

British Airways is currently being investigated by Britain's Office of Fair Trading and the US Department of Justice in regard to issues relating to pricing of passenger tickets and fuel surcharge, The Sunday Telegraph has reported. Following the probe, BA has placed two of its senior executives on leave of absence during the inquiry.

BA's action has raised some suspicion that there may be some substance to the allegations, though the airline emphasises that its policy has been to conduct its business in full compliance with all applicable competition laws. The British newspaper reported that two other airlines — American Airlines and Virgin Atlantic — too are cooperating with the inquiry. If guilty of violating the relevant laws, the airlines could face a fine of 10 per cent of worldwide sales, it is learnt.
