New fee structure for AP private professional colleges

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, July 2

The private unaided engineering colleges based in Andhra Pradesh will have a new fee structure for academic years 2006-2007, 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

The Committee for Fixation of Fee Structure has fixed the fee for not just engineering colleges but also college of pharmacy and architecture, and announced the same today.

In a statement from the Member Secretary, Fee Fixation Committee, Mr Asuthosh Mishra, the tuition fee is fixed at Rs 26,000 per annum for each student for A category seats (80 per cent) and up to Rs 29,000 per annum for students in B category seats (20 per cent), in the private unaided engineering, pharmacy and architecture colleges.

Further, an extra amount of Rs 2,000 per annum is allowed to be collected from each student towards tuition fee for A and B category seats, over and above the tuition fee fixed for such seats.

The Member Secretary has said that the management of these colleges have been informed not to charge any capitation fee and there shall not be any profiteering. Except the amount fixed by the committee, no other amount, either directly or indirectly can be charged by the management, as this is unauthorised.

If any other amount is charged under any other head or guise (such as donation), it would amount to charging of capitation fee. The amount thus collected must be deployed for the benefit of the institution and cannot be diverted for other purposes or for personal gain.
