Precious metals firmed further on the local bullion market on Saturday.

Standard gold prices were up Rs 85 at Rs 9,290 per 10 gm from the previous close of Rs 9,205 per 10 gm. Pure gold (99.99 fineness) was up Rs 85 to close at Rs 9,340 per 10 gm from the previous close of Rs 9255. Silver (.999 fineness) price was up Rs 320 to close at Rs 17,515 from the previous close of Rs 17,195 a kg.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 17,450; retail silver (per gm): Rs 18.65; Standard gold: Rs 9,400; retail ornament gold (22 carat per gm): Rs 870.

Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 17,000; Gold ready: Rs 9,440.
