With some public sector top slots opening up for new appointments, there is a perceptible change in some of the aspirants. At a recent press conference relating to the oil sector, a top official in the hydrocarbon business was holding forth and invited the assembled journalists to contact him for any information they might need. At this, one correspondent stood up to point out that the official concerned did not entertain any calls from him nor would he accede to requests for a meeting. The official was all smiles as he replied: "Now that I know you, there will be no problem. In fact, I am already falling in love with you." While others broke out in laughter, the `targeted' journalist was flummoxed, unable to make out whether the official was serious or just pulling his leg.
