MR L.N. MITTAL

New Delhi , July 6

Within days of his successful acquisition of rival steel maker Arcelor, steel baron Mr L.N. Mittal will visit India on Friday to explore investment options amid speculation that he may even be eyeing domestic players for expansion.

Mr Mittal, who got considerable support from India, particularly the Commerce Minister, Mr Kamal Nath, during his five-month-long battle to take over Arcelor, will meet the Prime Minister, Mr Manmohan Singh.

In Delhi, Mr Mittal will address a press conference with state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp, with which he is inking a partnership for overseas oilfield acquisition, and attend a dinner hosted by the Petroleum Minister, Mr Murli Deora.

Mr Mittal will also meet Mr Navin Patnaik, Chief Minister of Orissa, where Mittal Steel is looking at investment opportunities.

He will fly back to London late in the evening.

The steel baron will also review the progress made in the 12-million tonne steel plant project at an estimated investment of Rs 40,000 crore in Jharkhand, for which he had signed an MoU with the State Government last year.
