Spot rubber rules steady

Spot rubber prices were quoted steady on Thursday. Sentiments remained almost paralysed, as the reports from the international markets were not promising. RSS 4 was traded steady at Rs 105.50 and Rs 105 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi as on Wednesday.

Futures decline

The rubber futures resumed the downtrend on NMCE. The market appeared to be in a bearish mood quoting the July contract at Rs 104 (Rs 104.70), August at Rs 104.70 (Rs 106), September at Rs 102.45 (Rs 103.65) and October contract at Rs 99.50 (Rs 100.92) per kg for RSS 4.

The transactions were better at 1,343 tonnes till noon with 138 tonnes in July, 906 tonnes in August, 260 tonnes in September and 39 tonnes in October.

RSS 3 declined further to Rs 123.24 a kg from Rs 124.27 at Bangkok. The August futures for the grade improved marginally to 303.7 yen (Rs 121.25) from 303 Yen a kg at TOCOM.

Physical prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 105.50 (Rs 105.50); RSS-5: Rs 101 (Rs 101); ungraded: Rs 97.50 (Rs 97.50); ISNR 20: Rs 99.50 (Rs 99.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 78.40 (Rs 78.40).
