VAT panel to meet on July 15

Our Bureau

New Delhi, July 6

The State Finance Ministers are to meet here on July 15 under the aegis of the empowered committee of State Finance Ministers on Value Added Tax (VAT).

Official sources said that the VAT Panel is expected to review the implementation of State-level VAT in the 30 States and Union Territories of the country.

Issues such as the deviations in VAT rates adopted by the States as compared to those recommended by the empowered committee may come up for discussions at the meeting.

The VAT Panel has already asked the States to come up with an "authoritative list" spelling out the deviations.
