MOBILE PCO: Mr V. G. Somasekar, Chief Executive Officer, Reliance Communications, Tamil Nadu Circle, makes the first call on Reliance's mobile PCO in Chennai on Friday. The mobile PCO is a fixed wireless telephone set up inside a bus, enabling passengers to make local, STD and ISD calls.

The PCO works on the WLL-FWT technology, and could also act as a vehicle tracking service for tour operators. Reliance Communications has tied up with Parveen Travels and about 100 inter-state buses would be equipped with this facility in a few months. Local calls would cost Rs 2 per minute, STD calls Rs 4 and ISD calls from Rs 10-15 per minute.
