Bank credit increases by Rs 12,601 cr

Mumbai, July 7

Gross bank credit increased by Rs 12,601 crore and stood at Rs 15,23,168 crore for the fortnight ended June 23, according to Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement. The gross bank credit was inclusive of food credit, which increased by Rs 752 crore to touch Rs 41,298 crore and non-food credit has increased by Rs 11,849 crore to Rs 14,81,870 crore. Total accommodation provided by scheduled commercial banks to the commercial sector in the form of bank credit and investment in shares, debentures, bonds and commercial paper was at Rs 15,63,298 crore.
