Marine police station in AP

Visakhapatnam, July 7

The first marine police station in Andhra Pradesh was inaugurated at Rushikonda by the District Collector, Mr Anil Kumar Singhal. Mr V.S.K. Kaumudi, Police Commissioner, said that out of the 170-km coastline in Visakhapatnam district, 45 km would come under the jurisdiction of the Rushikonda police station. The staff would be trained in consultation with the Coast Guard. Initially, there would be a sub-inspector, three head constables and 15 constables. The police station would be involved in cyclone warning, rescue and disaster management efforts and vigilance.
