AP to pursue reforms in 30 PSUs, coops

Third phase of APERP action plan to cover 10 undertakings

Hyderabad , July 7

The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to pursue public enterprises reforms covering 30 major public sector undertakings and cooperatives.

The reforms to be implemented in the next three years among PSUs include major entities such as the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), Singareni Collieries Company Ltd and AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd.

Chaired by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at the Secretariat here on Friday, the Cabinet has decided to take up the third phase action plan of the AP Economic Restructuring Programme (APERP) from this year to cover ten undertakings.

The key corporations that would undergo reforms this year include AP State Trading Corporation and the AP State Housing Corporation.

Further, the Cabinet has also decided to undertake studies to recommend measures for potentially viable enterprises so that their performance could be improved through restructuring.

As a part of this, the Cabinet has approved study of several PSUs and cooperatives during this year. These include AP State Cooperative Bank Ltd, AP Mineral Development Corporation Ltd, Thandava Cooperative Sugars Ltd, Sri Vijayarama Gajapathi Cooperative Sugar Factory, AP State Minorities Finance Corporation Ltd and the AP Women's Cooperative Finance Corporation Ltd.

During the next fiscal, studies on few more PSUs and cooperatives would be taken.

These include the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd, AP Tourism Development Corporation Ltd, AP State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd, Etikoppaka and Chodavaram Cooperative Sugar Factories and AP Geetha Parisramika Sahakara Arthika Sankshema Samastha Ltd.
