FACT posts Rs 236 cr net profit

The Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd (FACT), consequent on the implementation of a financial relief package by the Centre and stringent cost cutting measures coupled with maximisation of capacity utilisation, has registered a net profit of Rs 236 crore during the last fiscal.

The board of directors of the company, which met in New Delhi on Friday, approved the financial results for 2005-06, an official release here said.

According to an official release on Friday the sales turnover of the Central public sector undertaking posted a remarkable improvement in 2005-06 over the previous year. The sales revenue also moved up to Rs 1,422 crore from Rs 1,214 crore in 2004-05.

Production of factamfos registered an all time increase of 33 per cent with a total output of 7,45,902 tonne as against 5,60,788 tonne the previous year.

Sales of factamfos also recorded 48 per cent increase and touched 7,89,049 tonne as compared to 5,30,949 tonne in 2004-05. The total sale of all fertilisers showed an impressive hike over that of the previous year.

There has been steady demand for ammonium sulphate in the domestic market.

As a result the entire production of 1,72,986 tonne was almost fully sold out in India with only a nominal export to foreign countries, it said.
