Hyderabad, July 9

The State Election Commission on Sunday announced the notification and poll schedule for the gram panchayats in the State. The Election Commissioner, Mr A.V.S. Reddy, told newspersons that elections for the 21,354 gram panchayats in 22 districts of the State would be held in three phases on July 29, August 2 and August 6. The date of issue of election notice by returning officers and the date of display of ward-wise electoral rolls of gram panchayat on the notice board is July 15. Nominations will be received from July 15 to July 19 and the scrutiny held on July 20. Around 3.9 crore voters are set to exercise their franchise.
