Gold, silver prices recover

Precious metals recovered marginally on the local bullion market on Tuesday on emergence of fresh buying amid firm overseas market.

Standard gold prices were up Rs 80 at Rs 9,440 per 10 gm from Rs 9,360 per 10 gm. Pure gold (99.99 fineness) was up Rs 80 at Rs 9,490 per 10 gm from Rs 9,410 per 10 gm.

Silver (.999 fineness) price was up Rs 85 to close at Rs 17,735 from Rs 17,650 a kg.

Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 17,555; retail silver (per gm): Rs 18.80; Standard gold: Rs 9,540; retail ornament gold (22 carat per gm): Rs 883.

Kolkata: Silver ready: Rs 17,350; Gold ready: Rs 9,580.
