Precious metals rise on buying

Mumbai, July 12

Precious metals prices shot up on the bullion market on Wednesday on strong overseas market amid steady local buying. Standard gold prices were up Rs 250 to Rs 9,690 for 10 gm from previous close of Rs 9,440. Pure gold (99.99 fineness) was up Rs 250 to Rs 9,740. Silver (.999 fineness) price was up Rs 520 to Rs 18,255.

CHENNAI: Bar silver Rs 18,115 a kg; retail silver Rs 19.35 a gm; standard gold Rs 9,750 for 10 gm; 22-carat ornament gold Rs 903 a g.
