Domestic gold rises; silver weakens

Mumbai, July 13

Gold moved up further on the local bullion market on Thursday on some buying interest amid firm overseas market, while silver prices weakened on some offering. Standard gold prices were up Rs 80 at Rs 9,770 for 10 gm from previous close of Rs 9,690. Pure gold (99.99 fineness) was up Rs 80 at Rs 9,820. Silver (.999 fineness) price was down Rs 5 at Rs 18,250 a kg.

CHENNAI: Bar silver Rs 18,235 for a kg; retail silver Rs 19.50 a gm; standard gold Rs 9,800 for 10 gm, 22-carat ornament gold Rs 915 a gm.
