Chennai , July 13 Tumble Tots, an international pre-school physical play programme, plans to set up 75 centres in India every year for the next five years, according to Mr Shankar Santhiram, Managing Director, Tumble Tots India. The Chennai-based Tot Development (India) Pvt Ltd, the 10-year country franchisee agent for India, plans to expand through the franchisee route. The company hopes to cover all the major towns in Tamil Nadu in the next six months and the southern States in two years. Mr Santhiram said that each franchise would cost Rs 3.25 lakh for five years. The franchisee would also have to invest Rs 1.75 lakh for the equipment (100 to 120 pieces). The equipment will be imported from Indonesia, Singapore and UK. He said that on an average the initial expense, which includes rental deposit and renovation, would be about Rs 2.5 lakh. The operating expense per month would work out to about Rs 60,000. The franchisee would be able to break even with 85 fee-paying students over a period of five years, Mr Santhiram said. The fee per student is Rs 990 per month (for four weekly classes). Each class would be for a duration of 45 minutes, he said. The advertising and public relations would be handled by Tumble Tots India, which has earmarked about Rs 2.5 lakh on advertising for franchisee and for student enrolments. The franchisee staff will be trained by Tumble Tots India. International trainers from Singapore and Malaysia will train the initial lot. Tumble Tots was started in the UK in 1979 and is the brainchild of Bill Consgrave, a former coach of the British Olympics Gymnastics team.
