Outlook Industry & Economy - Radio/TV States - Kerala India Vision to launch second channel in Nov Our Bureau
Kochi , July 14 The Malayalam news channel India Vision, which has completed three year of operations, is all set to launch its second channel - Yes India Vision - from November 5. The new channel will mainly concentrate on youth, entertainment and sports, and it will be a totally different channel like that of the present news channel of the India Vision, said Dr M.K. Muneer, Chairman. Other contents of the new channel will be decided later and the logo release will be held on October 25. He pointed out that an additional investment of Rs 20 crore would be required for the second channel, which would be raised from outside.
IMA contribution
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has agreed to contribute Rs 2 crore provided they are given a separate half-an-hour slot to telecast health related programmes. IMA has already made a contribution of Rs 50 lakh for the venture, Dr Muneer said. Referring to the performance of India Vision, the Chairman pointed out that the channel had already achieved an operational breakeven and is now running on `no loss no profit' basis. The financial break even is expected by the fifth year and we would be in a position to give dividends to shareholders within the next two years, he said. The revenue from advertisements for the channel presently is also encouraging.
For West Asia viewers
India Vision is also planning to telecast one-hour dedicated news for the viewers in West Asia. For this, the channel is in the process of setting up required infrastructure for a West Asia band for live telecast of news and other events for the viewers there, he added.
