MAHE plans more tie-ups with overseas universities

MAHE is planning to introduce online entrance examinations and admission process for all its courses from the next academic year Innovative courses in various streams on drawing board

Mangalore , July 14

The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), which has twinning programmes with various overseas universities for various professional courses, is planning to have many more such tie-ups.

The Pro-Chancellor of the MAHE, Prof H.S. Ballal, told presspersons at Manipal on Thursday that MAHE pioneered the introduction of twinning programmes with overseas universities for various professional courses. MAHE wants to have tie-up with some more universities in foreign countries, he said.

MAHE is the first self-financed deemed university in the country.

Added to this, the university is also planning to start some more innovative courses in various professional streams.

ENGINEERING

Stating that MAHE is planning to increase seats in some subjects in engineering course, he said the All-India Council for Technical Education wants the university to justify the increase in the number of seats with proper infrastructure.

The university modifies the curriculum in the engineering courses based on the needs of the particular industry, he said.

ONLINE EXAM

Prof Ballal said that MAHE is planning to introduce online entrance examinations and admission process for all its courses from the next academic year. The university conducted online entrance examination for some courses during the year. Nearly 10,000 students took online examination for nearly 300 seats during the current year.

Stating that MAHE will implement all security measures, while introducing such an initiative, he said biometry-based system would be utilised to identify a particular student attending the online examination. Prof Ballal said that 27 per cent of the medical doctors in the Malaysia are alumni of MAHE.
