Railways clocks 14.22 pc growth in Q1 earnings

The Railways earned a total of Rs 14,858.60 crore during April-June 2006 compared to Rs 13,008.40 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 14.22 per cent.

Total goods earnings have gone up by 15.9 per cent to touch Rs 9,973.91 crore, said an official release.

Passenger revenues stood at Rs 4,347.26 crore (Rs 3,979.30 crore), up 9.25 per cent.

Coaching earnings moved up by 35.83 per cent to touch Rs 397.20 crore (Rs 292.43 crore).

Some 1,465.32 million passengers made bookings during the period, recording an increase of 7.53 per cent.
