Revive gold card scheme: TEA

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, July 16

Knitwear exporters have suggested to the RBI to rationalise the fees being collected by the banks for various non-fund services extended to the exporters, with a view to reducing the transaction costs for the shippers. They have also asked the RBI to revive the Gold Card scheme for the exporters that was withdrawn. The Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA) in a submission to the RBI Deputy Governor, Ms Shyamala Gopinath, during the latter's visit to the city has pointed out that exporters suffer from high transaction cost and waiver of non-fund fees such as processing fee on bank guarantees, letter of credit and limiting the fee on renewal-cum-credit enhancements as one time fee at the initial sanction itself would go a long way in bringing down the finance costs for the shippers.
