Customer service is of paramount importance if banks have to survive and thrive in the present competitive environment, and PSU banks, in particular, should focus on this area, according to Ms Deepali Pant Joshi, a banking ombudsman. She was speaking at a one-day workshop on strategies for effective customer service organised here on Sunday by the Hyderabad chapter of the Indian Banking Association. Andhra Bank is the convener of the chapter. Ms Joshi explained the salient features of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme, 2006, and how it would pave the way for better customer service.
