Soundbuzz to launch online video store

Preethi J.

Bangalore , July 17

Following the success of legal music downloads over its Web site, Singapore-based Soundbuzz will be launching its online video store in a months' time. Videos, ranging from "low brainer'' Bollywood songs to trailers will be available on the Web site (www.soundbuzz.com) for downloading.

"Unlike music, videos attract a different section of audience. Current Hindi and Bollywood material sells, whereas with music, the range is much wider, with demand seen for older songs too. We are beginning to digitise and offer selected videos for the Indian consumer,'' said Mr Mandar Thakur, General Manager, Soundbuzz India.

Around 110 videos are available on the Web site for paid download, he said.

Video downloads

Soundbuzz is targeting the portable media player owner community for video downloads. With mp3 players giving way to media players such as the Sony PSP (Play Station Portable) and iPod Video, the firm expects video downloads to ramp up rapidly in the coming year.

Broadband users are also expected to download videos. Video stores by Soundbuzz are active in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia, where primarily local and international videos are being offered. For India, this store will be loaded with Indian selections.
