File tax returns early: CBDT

New Delhi, July 17

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Monday urged taxpayers under the `individual' category to file their income-tax returns ahead of the July 31 due date to avoid the last day rush.

A CBDT spokesperson told reporters here that special arrangements hadbeen made in all metros and cities (with income-tax offices) for receiving returns during the last few days to the July 31 deadline. The official also said that there was no plan as of now to extend the due date.
