Hyderabad , July 19

The Australian Government intends to expand a two-way trade and two-way investment with Andhra Pradesh, its High Commissioner in India, Mr John McCarthy, said here on Wednesday.

The move will enable substantial prospects for co-operation in mineral resources, processed and fresh food, road and aviation infrastructure in the future. Similarly, significant investments, particularly in mining and resources, are also possible.

There is also potential for educational twinning projects.

These were some of the issues the High Commissioner discussed with the State Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, some Cabinet Ministers and officials he met during the day. Mr McCarthy was in Hyderabad to kick-start the weeklong business conference of the Australian Government's Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Austrade, which began on Wednesday.

Hyderabad has been chosen as the best city for Austrade's annual planning conference.
