Spices & Condiments Marketing - Standards & Benchmarks States - Kerala Eastern Condiments gets ISO tag Our Bureau
Kochi , July 20 Eastern Condiments, the flagship company of the Eastern Group, has announced that it has received the ISO 22000:2005 certification for quality and safety in spices and masala sector. Eastern Condiments is the first company in the country to receive this certification and it ensures the effective food safety management system taken by the company at par with global international standards and specifications, Mr M.E. Meeran, Chairman, Eastern Group, said. The certification upholds the steps taken by the company to install latest infrastructure in every stage of manufacturing as well as logistics. The certificate for food safety systems is issued by the FoodCert BV Netherlands.
Export growth
Mr Meeran said Eastern Condiments, the largest exporter of curry powder in the country for the past 7 years, has registered a 30 per cent growth in exports in the first quarter of the current fiscal compared to the corresponding period previous fiscal. It has achieved Rs 11-crore exports in the first three months of the current fiscal. This year, the company is expecting export business of Rs 35 crore against Rs 23 crore last year.
