Spot rubber dips

Depressed Thai market a cause

Kottayam , July 21

Weak signals from leading overseas markets especially Bangkok (spot) depressed the domestic prices on Friday. Covering groups turned inactive once again when selling from dealers and certain growers hit the trading centres in the morning session. Sheet rubber declined to Rs 95 and Rs 94.50 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 95.50 a kg.

Futures weak

The rubber futures continued to rule weak on NMCE. The August contract was quoted at Rs 94.80 (Rs 95.86), September contract at Rs 91.51 (Rs 92.62), October contract at Rs 89.00 (Rs 89.93) and November contract at Rs 87.00 (Rs 88.07) per kg for RSS 4. Spot prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 95 (Rs 95.50); RSS-5: Rs 93 (Rs 93.50); ungraded: Rs 91 (Rs 91.50); ISNR 20: Rs 93.50 (Rs 94) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 77.90 (Rs 77.90).
