Tuticorin Port's power project

Tuticorin Port Trust (TPT) has identified 75 acres of land within its jurisdiction for the 1,000 MW power plant project proposed to be established by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB). Stating this while addressing a function to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the port, held here recently, the TPT Chairman, Mr N.K. Raghupathy, further said, land has also been provided for the 2x500 MW project that would be set up by TNEB in association with Neyveli Lignite Corporation. A project at a cost of Rs 442 crore would be taken up to provide an efficient sea port, for which environmental clearance has been received from the Central Government, he added.
