ENTICING: Sugar-coated cumin seeds on display at an exhibition in Kochi, Kerala. India is the biggest consumer of cumin seeds with 90 per cent of the production being absorbed in the domestic market. Mainly grown in Rajasthan and Gujarat, the total production fluctuates between 1.5 lakh tonnes and 2 lakh tonnes. On the other hand, exports have quadrupled to over 5,600 tonnes during April-May this fiscal on short-supply in the global market.
