Elitegroup acquires Uniwill

Bangalore, July 25

Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), a Japanese motherboard maker, announced acquisition of notebook maker Uniwill Computer Co via share swap. The swap would be completed by December 1, 2006, according to ECS's statement filed with the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The acquisition will integrate manufacturing capabilities of the notebook, desktop PC and motherboard lines. Following the acquisition, ECS will have more than 400 R&D team members for notebook PC design and will scale up volume to three million sets per year. ECS products are distributed in India by Cyberstar Infocom and Mediatech India Distribution.
