Gokaldas Exports net up 16 pc

Higher inflow of orders and demand for goods helped Gokaldas Exports post a 16-per-cent growth in net profit to Rs 13.51 crore for the first quarter ended June 2006. The company's revenues rose 24.5 per cent to Rs 223.79 crore. According to a company release, it is expanding its product mix. A manufacturing plant for `structured suits' for men and women, at an investment of Rs 20 crore, will be set up in Bangalore and will be commissioned by the end of 2006. Mr Rajendra Hinduja, Executive Director, Gokaldas Exports, said three new factories would be commissioned by the end of 2006-07 in Chennai, Mysore and Hyderabad at a total cost of Rs 40 crore. Also, the Government is in the process of acquiring land for a special economic zone for Gokaldas Exports.
