Further fall in spot rubber

Spot rubber declined further on Wednesday. Sheet rubber weakened to Rs 89.50 a kg from Rs 91 at Kottayam. But the grade closed unchanged at Rs 90 a kg at Kochi. According to sources, a majority of the traders seemed to nervous listening to the predictions on extremely lower targets for RSS 4.

Futures weak

The NMCE rubber futures fell sharply reacting to the heavy long liquidation in overseas markets. The August contract was quoted at Rs 88 (Rs 90.50), September at Rs 85.20 (Rs 87.17), October at Rs 85.20 (Rs 87.07) and November contract at Rs 86.25 (Rs 87.50) per kg for RSS 4.

Physical prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 89.50 (Rs 91.00); RSS-5: Rs 88 (Rs 90); ungraded: Rs 85 (Rs 87.50); ISNR 20: Rs 88 (Rs 90); and latex 60 per cent: Rs 75.25 (Rs 76.30).
