Chennai , July 28

CSWL, the US-based subsidiary of California Software Company Ltd (Calsoft), plans to acquire 66 per cent equity in Codex Co Ltd, a Japanese company. The investment would be about $900,000 (Rs 4.05 crore) and will be an all-cash deal, according to a Calsoft press release.

An agreement between the two companies would culminate in a final share purchase agreement, and the entire process should be completed by the end of August, according to the release.

Codex focuses on providing information technology-based solutions to commodity trading companies in Japan. It delivers B2B solutions, trading management systems and customised packaged solutions to companies like Itochu Corporation and Itochu Petroleum.

With this acquisition, the company will strengthen its commodity solutions and enhance the group's presence in Japan.

This is the company's fifth acquisition in the last two years. The group plans to grow organically as well as through a prudent and focused acquisition strategy that brings synergies to its customer solution offerings.
