Bangalore , July 28 An offset policy for civil aircraft procurements would be welcome, the TCS CEO and Managing Director, Mr S. Ramadorai, told a news conference here on Friday. Mr Ramadorai said he hoped that the Centre would come out with a policy on the lines of 30 per cent offsets for defence aircraft procurement. Instead of promoting commodity exports technology, other sectors could be considered, he pointed out. TCS already has a company-to-company tie up with Airbus and Boeing but no offsets, he said in reply to queries, adding that the company is a partner with HAL.
Operations in China
Tata Consultancy Services China, the wholly owned subsidiary set up to offer BPO and IT services there, is expected to be profitable by the first 12-18 months. The company has filed for a business licence and will begin operations by September this year, said Mr Ramadorai. The business for new joint venture will come from the local and global market. Mr Ramadorai announced that the Chinese entity recently won an order from Huaxia Bank to implement a core banking solution. The first phase will cover 25 of its branches, said Mr N. Ganapathy Subramaniam, Vice-President & Head, Banking Industry Practice.
