Mumbai , July 29 Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd has reported a 31 per cent fall in net profit for the first quarter ended June 30 on a near flat growth in revenues. Net profit fell to Rs 88 crore (Rs 127 crore). Total revenue amounted to Rs 951 crore (Rs 944 crore). Total expenditure rose 7 per cent to Rs 711 crore (Rs 667 crore). The wholesale voice business of the company reported slightly higher revenues at Rs 538 crore (Rs 514 crore) while its profit before interest and tax amounted to Rs 127 crore (Rs 102 crore). Its enterprise and carrier data business reported lower revenues at Rs 284 crore (Rs 321 crore) and reduced results as well at Rs 212 crore (Rs 270 crore). The company's scrip slid on the stock exchanges. On the BSE, it closed at Rs 365 on Friday, down by Rs 1.05 or 0.29 per cent.
