Panaji , July 30

The Goa Government has decided to make its up-coming information technology (IT) habitat-cum-park at Dona Paula near here more compact and attractive by allotting additional 30,000 sq. mts. of land for a captive housing project.

The Minister for IT, Mr Dayanand Narvekar, made the announcement in this regard in the State Assembly while replying to the debate on demands of grants for the IT Department.

Mr Narvekar said the IT parks will consist of all facilities including housing, club house, etc, so as to avert problems such as traffic congestion faced by IT personnel in cities such as Bangalore and Hyderabad.

As for the IT habitat at Dona Paula, the Minister said there were only 18 plots while 30 applications have been received. Besides, he said, IT leaders have also approached him for developing another IT Park at Soccoro in North Goa.
