TN Budget

This refers to "TN Budget, politically adroit, yet fiscally responsible" (Business Line, July 31): It concludes that the Budget blends compassion with fiscal prudence. One item in the Budget, perhaps, belies this.

Granting exemption from entertainment tax on films titled in Tamil regardless of whether they promote Tamil culture, traditions and language, appears over-generous. The State government should re-examine this aspect in the interest of the film industry.
