Natco Pharma Ltd has posted a turnover of Rs 50.89 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2006 as against Rs 46.23 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. It has posted a net profit of Rs 8.07 crore (Rs 5.54 crore). This translates into an EPS of Rs 2.97 (Rs 2.07) on an expanded equity base of Rs 27.17 crore (Rs 26.72 crore). In a press release here on Monday, the company said its retail business in the US performed well, recording a revenue base of approximately Rs 23 crore and a net profit of Rs 3.21 crore. Of this, Natco would have a share of Rs 17 crore of turnover and Rs 2.41 crore of net profit, the release said.

Meanwhile, the Natco board that met on Monday has decided to buy back shares of Rs 10 each at a price not exceeding Rs 150 per share from the open market for a sum not exceeding Rs 7 crore.
