New Projects Breathing equipment maker ResMed sets up office in India Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug. 1
The US-based manufacturer of breathing problem related equipment ResMed said it is in the process of setting up its subsidiary in India, with its office already established in the country. "We will facilitate doctor-to-doctor interactions, spread awareness about breathing problems and conduct clinical work with the setting up of our office in India," said Mr Paul Eisen, Senior Vice-President, ResMed Asia Pacific. In India, as in the rest of the world, there are about 8 per cent of the population that suffer from the disorder sleep apnoea, which makes the country a big market for the company. ResMed will sell its equipment through its distribution partner Respicure. The equipment price is Rs 50,000 for each patient, apart from initial diagnosis and consultation cost. The company's products have been available in the country since 1996 and clocked a turnover of $1 million last year. "We target a turnover of $10 million in India in the next five years," said Mr Eisen. ResMed has operations in over 65 countries with direct offices and distribution partners. In Asia Pacific, it has offices in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and China.
